The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja has fixed April 2nd, 2025 to deliver judgement in the case filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo challenging the outcome of polls held in the State on September 21, 2024.
The three-man panel led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi had on March 3rd, reserved its verdict after parties in the matter had adopted their final written addresses
The Peoples Democratic Party and it’s governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, are challenging the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared Okpebholo as winner of the poll having secured 291, 667 votes, defeating his closet rival, Ighodalo of the PDP, who got a total of 247,655 votes.
Displeased with the outcome of the polls, the PDP and its candidate approached the Election Petition Tribunal, alleging that the election was not conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
