It didn’t take long! Just weeks after being retired from the Nigeria Police Force, former Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ari Muhammed Ali has jumped into the political ring — and he’s gunning for the Nasarawa South Senate seat in 2027.

According to exclusive sources reported by SaharaReporters, Ari has officially joined the ruling APC and has begun laying the groundwork for his senatorial ambition, capitalizing on his influence as a former top cop.

Ari was among a wave of senior police officers retired in March 2025 by the controversial IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who has been under scrutiny himself for refusing to step down despite reaching the mandatory retirement age. The retirements stirred public debate, especially as they involved allegations of age falsification and service violations.

But Ari isn’t backing down — he’s charging forward into politics, following in the footsteps of another big name: former IGP Mohammed Adamu, who earlier declared his intention to run for Nasarawa State Governor under the APC.

Adamu made his declaration before the APC State Working Committee in Lafia, saying he was answering a “clarion call” from the people to lead the state to greater heights.

With Governor Abdullahi Sule completing his second term, the stage is already getting crowded with former uniformed men turning politicians — and Ari is now the latest heavyweight to enter the battlefield.

2027 is shaping up to be a wild ride in Nasarawa politics.
