Governor Swears In 17 New Commissioners, Reiterates Commitment to People-Centered Governance

The Governor has sworn in 17 newly appointed commissioners to strengthen his administration’s cabinet, with a clear charge to remain dedicated to service delivery and the welfare of citizens.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Governor said the appointments mark a renewed push to consolidate achievements in the second half of his first term. He reminded the commissioners that their offices carry great responsibility, requiring discipline, integrity, and accountability.

He further directed them to maintain strong ties with their local communities, uphold the sanctity of state matters, and embody the ideals of government policies.

“Governance is not about self-interest but about service. Our duty is to improve the lives of ordinary citizens, and I expect each commissioner to live by this principle,” the Governor declared.

While using the occasion to commend his Deputy, Barr. Sam Ode, mni, the Governor described him as “a dependable, capable, and people-oriented partner in governance,” noting that their cordial working relationship remains a source of strength for the administration.

The commissioners sworn in include: Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, Dr. Ortese Yanmar, Hon. Michael Oglegba, Hon. Kwaghgba Amande, Hon. Tiza Isaac Imojime, Hon. Alumo Orpin, Hon. Ugwu Odoh, Hon. Kunde Aondowase, Dr. Joseph Ter Jir, Hon. James Dwem, Prof. Ornguga Yangien, Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche, and Hon. Dennis Iyaighgba.

Addressing the commissioners, the Governor urged them to embrace humility and inclusivity in service.

“My advice is simple: let your doors remain open, spread opportunities, and be generous in spirit. Leadership is about sharing and lifting others,” he said.

He congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence that their contributions would accelerate development across the state.
