President Tinubu Confers CFR Honour on Bill Gates During Courtesy Visit

Abuja, Nigeria – June 3, 2025

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Mr. Bill Gates, Co-Chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public health, education, and development in Nigeria and across Africa.

The conferment took place during a courtesy visit by Mr. Gates to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he was received in audience by President Tinubu.

The brief but symbolic event was witnessed by Nigeria’s foremost industrialist and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who has long partnered with the Gates Foundation on various humanitarian initiatives.

President Tinubu praised Bill Gates for his unwavering commitment to improving lives globally, especially through significant investments in polio eradication, primary healthcare, and agricultural innovation in Nigeria.

Mr. Gates expressed appreciation for the honour and reiterated his foundation’s continued support for Nigeria’s development goals.
