In a passionate presentation on the Senate floor, Senator Ngwu Osita has raised serious concerns over what he described as the continued neglect of the South East region by the Nigerian government.
“Mr. President, if this is an omission, it is an expensive omission,” the Senator declared while addressing the Senate. He lamented the exclusion of the South East in the latest budgetary allocations for dam projects, pointing out that while another zone was allocated N66 billion, the South East received zero.

Highlighting the long-abandoned Ivo Dam project, Senator Ngwu said, “Let me give you an instance. Out of the dams listed here, Ivo Dam was last funded about 12 years ago with N5 billion already spent, yet it has been abandoned ever since.”
According to him, all efforts to revive the project have been ignored. “I have written three letters to the Ministry of Water Resources. We’ve done everything possible to bring back Ivo Dam,” he said.
The Senator’s remarks underscore a growing frustration over the perceived marginalization of the region and have sparked fresh conversations online about the equitable distribution of national resources.
