Nsude, Enugu State – July 7, 2025
In a clear demonstration of proactive leadership and responsiveness to the needs of his constituents, Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, has mobilized the reputable construction firm, Arab Contractors, to commence immediate remedial work on the dangerous gully erosion site at Nsude along the 9th Mile–Udi–Oji River Road.
The development comes just days after Senator Ngwu raised alarm over the growing threat posed by the gully erosion, which has not only cut off access for commuters and residents but also posed significant risks to lives, farmlands, and economic activities in the area.

Senator Ngwu, who visited the site earlier in the week, described the situation as “an environmental emergency that demands swift intervention.” He assured the community that he would do everything within his legislative and personal capacity to ensure that urgent palliative and long-term measures were implemented.
True to his word, today marked a turning point for residents of Nsude and the surrounding communities as heavy-duty equipment and personnel from Arab Contractors arrived on-site to begin emergency stabilization work. The intervention aims to halt further deterioration of the road, restore access, and pave the way for a more permanent erosion control solution.
“This is not just a road; it is a vital economic and social lifeline for our people,” Senator Ngwu said while addressing community leaders and engineers at the site. “We cannot afford to let this gully continue to expand unchecked. I commend the quick response of Arab Contractors, and I want to assure my constituents that this is only the beginning of a broader infrastructure renewal drive across our senatorial district.”
Local residents and commuters have expressed relief and gratitude for the swift response, noting that the erosion had rendered travel nearly impossible and posed a danger to school children and farmers alike.
Chief Nnamdi Uche, a community leader in Nsude, said, “We have cried out for years. Seeing Senator Ngwu take action so quickly gives us hope that leadership still means service. We are grateful.”
The ongoing intervention underscores Senator Ngwu’s commitment to infrastructure development, environmental protection, and effective representation. It also highlights the importance of community engagement in bringing urgent issues to the attention of public office holders.
As work continues in the coming days, residents have been urged to cooperate fully with the contractors to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the project.
