Katsina, Nigeria – April 23, 2025

The Katsina State Government has invested a total of ₦3.8 billion in electricity infrastructure development, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy solutions—particularly solar power—across the state.

This was revealed by the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruq Lawal-Jobe, during a media briefing in Katsina where he highlighted the achievements of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration in the energy and infrastructure sectors, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Lawal-Jobe noted that the initiative focuses on delivering sustainable energy solutions to essential public facilities. Among the flagship projects under the renewable energy program are solar mini-grid installations at the General Hospital Katsina, the Government House, and the State Secretariat Complex.

“In an effort to provide a sustainable power solution to critical facilities of government, viable mini-grid solar-powered projects are ongoing at General Hospital Katsina, Government House, and the State Secretariat Complex at the cost of ₦3.8 billion,” he stated.

The move aligns with the state government’s broader vision to reduce reliance on the national grid and promote eco-friendly energy alternatives in critical areas, ultimately boosting service delivery and operational efficiency in public institutions.

The initiative is also expected to serve as a model for future investments in green energy, positioning Katsina as a forward-thinking state in Nigeria’s energy transition agenda.
