Retired General, Property Firm in Fresh Land Dispute Over Abuja Plot Amid Police Investigation

A fresh land ownership dispute has erupted in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as Manec Homes Limited and a retired Major General continue to lay claim to Plot No. 446, Cadastral Zone C01, Karmo District, Abuja.

The company has accused the retired senior military officer of allegedly forcefully taking possession of the property with the support of armed soldiers, despite an ongoing police investigation into the ownership of the land.

According to documents made available to journalists, Manec Homes Limited, through its solicitors, Royal Law House Attorneys, petitioned the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, alleging criminal trespass, armed intimidation, threat to life, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and other related offences against the retired officer, identified as Maj.-Gen. Ali Wilson (rtd).

The petition, dated June 22, 2026, and signed by the Lead Partner of the law firm, Barrister Realwan Okpanachi, alleged that the retired general stormed the company’s property on June 20 while allegedly armed, in an attempt to take over the land.

The police subsequently invited both parties to appear before its investigative team on July 23, 2026, and requested that they submit all relevant title documents to establish ownership.

However, the company alleged that before the scheduled meeting with investigators, the retired general returned to the disputed property on July 18, accompanied by armed military personnel, and forcefully took possession of the land. The firm further claimed that soldiers have remained stationed on the property.

Speaking on the development, the Lead Partner of Royal Law House Attorneys, Barrister Realwan Okpanachi, said both parties had already submitted their ownership documents to the police, which had in turn written to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to verify the authenticity of the documents before the latest incident allegedly occurred.

He maintained that the disputed land rightfully belongs to Manec Homes Limited and urged the authorities to ensure that due process is followed while investigations continue.

Efforts to obtain the reaction of Maj.-Gen. Ali Wilson (rtd) were unsuccessful. He declined to comment during a WhatsApp call after the reporter identified himself, while subsequent text and WhatsApp messages sent to him were not responded to.

As of the time of filing this report, the FCT Police Command had yet to make public the outcome of its investigation into the ownership dispute.
