The police in the Federal Capital Territory have warned the members of the public, especially youth groups, organizations, and hiking enthusiasts against embarking on camping and hiking activities without taking necessary precautionary measures including official permission from the relevant authorities.
The advice is coming in light of recent security concerns in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ajao Adewale in a statement said the police must be informed before any camping or hiking activity takes place emphasizing that failing to do so poses significant security risks, as remote or unsecured locations can be vulnerable to criminal activities.
He said the Command takes these guidelines seriously with the view of minimizing risks posed by such adventures
