Police in Nasarawa State have rescued two students of the Federal University of Lafia abducted from their residence.

According to a statement by the Police, the kidnappers stormed a student lodge behind Nasara Estate in Tudun Kauri, Lafia, and took the students away.

Nansel explained that in response, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed mobilised operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to track down the perpetrators.

A rescue operation was launched leading to an exchange of gunfire.

The kidnappers were overpowered by the police, abandoned the victims and fled in different directions.

One suspect, identified as Ibrahim Musa from Abuni village in Awe Local Government Area, was apprehended at the scene and is currently assisting with ongoing investigations.

Commending the operatives for their bravery, Commissioner Jauro reassured residents of the police command’s dedication to combating crime and urged officers to remain steadfast in their efforts to maintain security across the state.
