Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has hit back at Nemanja Matic after the Sebian midfielder called him one of the worst goalkeepers in the club’s history.

Manchester United will play Lyon in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal this Thursday.

Matic, a former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder, who now plays for Lyon, had hit out at Onana for saying that Man United is superior to the French side.

A war of words has now started between Onana and Matic.

During a recent press conference, Onana said, the encounter is not going to be easy, but he thinks Manchester United are way better than Lyon

The comment angered Matic who responded by calling the Cameroonian the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League club’s history.

Later, the former Inter Milan goalkeeper however said he did not intend to disrespect the French Ligue1 club.

The 36-year-old Matic left Chelsea to join the Red Devils in 2017 and left the Old Trafford in 2022 without winning an accolade.

Onana, on the other hand, has won the FA Cup which he achieved in 2024.

United paid around.47 million pounds to sign Onana from Inter Milan in 2023 as a replacement for De Gea and he won the FA Cup in his first season.

Only two goalkeepers have kept more clean sheets than his total of nine this season in the Premier League and he is capable of spectacular saves.

But the 29-year-old has made several costly errors during his United career and his reliability continues to be questioned.
