Abuja – April 24, 2025

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has affirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” is yielding tangible results for residents of the capital city.

Wike made this known on Thursday in Abuja after conducting a series of inspections on key infrastructural projects ahead of President Tinubu’s second-year anniversary in office.

Among the projects inspected were the ongoing construction of the left-wing service lane of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) leading to Wassa Junction, the construction of a major interchange connecting Wole Soyinka Way with Murtala Mohammed Expressway, and the extension of Obafemi Awolowo Way (N5), from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III.

Expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, the Minister said the selected projects are on track for completion and commissioning in May, in celebration of President Tinubu’s second year in office.

“Indeed, President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is working, and the people are happy,” Wike stated. “We were at Wassa Junction, a critical stretch on the OSEX. It is one of the key roads we believe will be inaugurated by Mr. President to mark his second year.”

He also visited the Northern Parkway Interchange project, handled by construction firm Gilmore. “They have reassured us that, by the grace of God, the interchange will be ready for commissioning next month,” he added.

Wike lauded all contractors handling the FCT infrastructure upgrades, noting that the government is fulfilling its financial obligations to ensure timely delivery.

Speaking specifically on the N5 road project, the Minister explained that the project is being implemented in two phases, with the first phase also expected to be completed and inaugurated in May.

“These projects reflect the commitment of the Renewed Hope administration to improving the quality of life for FCT residents through sustainable infrastructure development,” he concluded.
