Abuja, Nigeria – April 24, 2025
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared that more state governors across Nigeria are on their way to joining the ruling party, stating confidently that the APC is already on solid ground for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Ganduje made the bold assertion while receiving top political figures from Kano State who recently defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC. The reception, held at his Abuja residence, marked what he described as another milestone in the party’s ongoing expansion drive.
Among the high-profile defectors were Senator Kawu Sumaila and Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the immediate past Secretary to the Kano State Government. Their defection is seen as a significant shift in Kano’s political landscape, which has long been considered a stronghold of the NNPP.
“In APC, we believe in the leadership and vision of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Ganduje said. “His economic reforms and the Renewed Hope Agenda are resonating across the country. As part of our political strategy, we are bringing more influential Nigerians and elected officials into our fold.”
Ganduje highlighted recent political developments that underscore the APC’s growing momentum. He cited the party’s success in wooing former opposition figures and entire state political structures into its ranks.
“We have already seen how the Governor of Delta State, his cabinet, state assembly members, and federal lawmakers all moved to APC. Even a former vice presidential candidate is now with us. This shows that our house is growing stronger,” he noted.
Asked directly whether more governors were set to defect to the APC, Ganduje did not mince words. “Yes, more governors are coming into APC, I assure you,” he said confidently. “Wherever elections are held, APC, Insha’Allah, will emerge victorious.”
The APC chairman also emphasized that beyond electoral contests, the party is deepening its reach through advocacy, dialogue, and political negotiation. He maintained that the APC’s expanding influence is not accidental, but the result of strategic engagement and belief in the leadership of President Tinubu.
Ganduje’s comments come amid growing speculation of realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with observers noting increased political movements and discussions across party lines.
As the APC continues to solidify its base and woo more key figures from rival parties, the coming months are expected to witness further developments that could reshape Nigeria’s political map.
