House Committee on Safety Standards Visits Intercontinental Distillers, Otta for On-the-Spot Safety Assessment

Otta, Ogun State – June 2, 2025

In a decisive move to enforce workplace safety and uphold regulatory compliance, the House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, led by Hon. David Idris Zacharias, today conducted an on-the-spot assessment at Intercontinental Distillers Limited in Otta, Ogun State.

The visit is part of the Committee’s ongoing oversight function aimed at promoting industrial safety, reducing workplace hazards, and enhancing employee welfare across Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.

Speaking during the inspection tour, Hon. Zacharias, who represents Idah Federal Constituency in Kogi State, emphasized the critical importance of compliance with occupational safety regulations. He noted that a safe working environment is essential not only for the health and well-being of employees but also for productivity and national economic growth.

The lawmakers also inspected various sections of the production plant to assess first-hand the working conditions and safety equipment in place.
